Fleximount vs. Costco/SafeRacks Shelves
I have installed countless overhead shelves in peoples garages. So many that I have lost count. There are two dominant overhead shelves in the industry, Fleximount and SafeRacks. SafeRacks are the shelves you will find for sale by Costco.
Let me preface by saying that I think both shelves are great, and both of pros and cons. But despite the pros and cons of each, I think the Fleximount is superior.

Why I like Saferacks Shelves:
- Simple design
- Easy installation
- Strong Materials
- Quality Manufacturing
Saferacks Downsides:
- Only supported by 4 ceiling mounts and posts
- Loose fittings
- Rested slots don’t always rest completely
- Wired base slides around easily
- Attaching long side frame channels across 6 or 8 feet is extremely challenging with just one person

Why I like Fleximount Shelves:
- Simple design
- Easy installation
- Strong Materials
- Quality Manufacturing
- 50% more ceiling and post support
- Precise Engineering
- Easily done by 1-person
Fleximount Downsides:
- Additional work to install added ceiling mounts and posts
- Frame bolts can sometimes be difficult to attach depending on shelf location.
